"Run the mile" does not mean "Run the fastest". There is no award given in the P.E. class for fastest mile. There was never one when I was in school. Hell, our teacher did not even tell us to run the mile. He just said we had to complete the mile by the end of the class. We all jogged it while chatting, and we were able to relax at the end of class while the full runner was trying to catch their breath and couldn't talk at all.
I was not shaming it. Also, this was in elementary school. When I was in middle school and high school, we ran the mile 3 times each year. We never received a grade on it. No awards were given. Nothing of the sort. So, not every school is the same. As long as you made the mile by the end of class, you were given a point for participation. Nothing else. I have nothing against someone giving their all. I was just pointing out that walking/jogging instead of a full run does not make you lazy.
We actually got graded depending on our time, but you could walk or jog. (Lower times for the running were needed for an A, and runners went in the opposite direction).
And doing what the teacher says
And that you're a lazy fuck
