If you raised the minimum wage everything else would just go up in price. Trust me as a minimum wage worker it sounds great but you really have to educate yourself and look. Also the posts point that senators are paid way to much i agree.

Everything is going up though, everything but wages. If wages kept up with inflation the minimum would be almost $20 now. In the 70s some one like archie bunker could support an entire family on minimum wage. There's no way that'd be possible now. And guess what, the tax payers end up subsidizing these companies in passing their workers because of someone doesn't make enough they'll just get food stamps or medicare. Why should we the tax payers help the likes of wal mart pay their workers. Maybe the CEOs need to take a cut and they can pay there own workers a living wage.

Price increase would be minimal. What would most likely happen is, you'd see petulant CEOs start replacing people and cutting jobs, citing "financial hardship", while their stock prices shoot through the stratosphere.

Yeah, you will see serious job-loss happening. More self-checkouts at stores, things like that.

Capital would definitely take over the job market, replacing most of the min wage people recieve but their stocks wouldn't shoot through the roof, infact it would drop. While on that note, you want their stock to rise. If their stock goes up that means their goods prices will, they can work to innovate and improve what they make so it's cheaper to make and cheaper for you to buy. Not to mention that not only is the stock market for rich white people, but it's highly used by the middle class as a way of earning money for their retirement through indexs and mutual funds. If their stock goes up so does their bonds which are owned primarily by the middle class and if you sell while the bonds are higher than what you bought them for, you make money off selling them as well as off the interest off the bond.
