Where I have worked in the past 10+ years, which is various companiea, the women have had equal opportunities and equal pay. Everyone worked equally hard.
National statistics that don't take into account everyday things such as maternity leave among other things. If a woman works the same time as a man does she'll make the same amount at the same company and at the same position but if she has to take maternity leave she's not getting paid as much, if at all, if she were working dropping the national average. There are real world reasons as to why this shit occurs.
The study was taken out of context and the wage gap was found to be false. It was not inequality. You all do realize it is illegal to pay anyone less because of their gender, sexuality, or ethnicity in the States. If this actually happened, there would be a serious legal case against it. As Metalman stated, there are other reasons that are not systemic misogyny, or sexism, and are actually really simple and explainable. The wage gap was never a real thing, unless you go back far enough when people were actually sexist and demeaning to women.
Well ... apparently in hollywood is. And although i think it is wrong men get paid more (in some cases. Because depending on the movie men are the lead) ..they are all still making millions sooo... whatever ...
"The study was taken out of context and the wage gap was found to be false." THE study, as in one study? Where do you get your information from? Honestly... but lets look: "unless you go back far enough when people were actually sexist and demeaning to women." - ok, I get an idea where you pull your info from... yeuch!
If you read the background information, you'll learn that the wage gap is not because companies pay women less. If that was the case, why wouldn't companies hire women over men, because the wage is cheaper? Why would men be employed at all? It would be more expensive to pay a man a dollar than to have women and pay them 70 cents or whatever, it would make the company much more money back overall, not having to pay 30 cents extra for a man.
The only reason women make less money OVERALL is because women tend to work much lower paying jobs than men do. And that's not because people aren't employing women, it's because the majority of women don't chase after really high paying jobs
It is illegal to pay anyone less than another based on their race, sex, or sexual orientation. Again, if this were the case, why haven't people gone to court over it?
People complain about shit for the sake of complaining about shit. If you want to make more money then you can ask for a raise or get a higher paying job. If you're a school teacher and make less money than a ceo of a big company, then get a better job instead of just whining about how it's "unfair" and throwing out bs statistics that are taken way out of context. This "wage gap" only exists because the studies took all women and put them against all men. That means that male engineers were put together with female teachers and then they claimed that women only make 70 cents for every dollar a man earns. That's bullshit
"The only reason women make less money OVERALL is because women tend to work much lower paying jobs than men do.". Like d'oh. The interesting question is, why are jobs that tend to be done by women so significantly paid bad or not at all. Why do "housewifing" and "mothering", some of the most important and complex jobs, not get paid at all, and hardly, if at all, qualify for pension? Why does caring for weak, sick, elderly and young humans get paid so super shitty? And thats just scratching the surface. But why discuss this with people who get their arguments by googling their opinion and reading the first couple sites that fit their agenda? With someone who seriously compares a male engineer and a female teacher, with the undoubted implication that obviously the engineers work is "worth" more than the teachers? This so so 1950's, you surely get along well with your grandfather.
So you want the government, which already is trying to deal with a monster of a problem with pensioning in Illinois, to start poking it's nose into how it should support you raising your child? That's a fantastic idea, we should let the government have some form of control over our children and their mothers. And for one, we are not promoting an agenda. A WOMAN, Claudia Goldin debunked the myth, and plenty of people after took a deeper look and came to their own conclusions. If anything, you are telling us we should lie down and roll over and let willfully ignorant and deceptive people tell us what to do. On my fucking grave over my cold dead corpse. I will not be told what to think, I will not be browbeaten into thinking a certain way, and I will not be silent when people say stupid sayings about social inequality. It is not a national problem. Women are not discriminated against, because the act hold no value to economy, business, and the general welfare of the people.
And two, I do not "google my opinion". If anything, you willfully googled what you wanted to hear, and decided to try to spit it into my face. I learned and listened before I made my opinion. And three, don't fucking insult my grandfather.
Well, some people deny the existence of climate change, because a handful of meteorologists says so. They don't care that an overwhelming majority says it does. And some people deny the holocaust, because there are jewish historians who say it never happened. Same as with that woman who "debunked the myth" of wage gap, this is a solid business model, cause it gets you more media time, than when you state the obvious. I would not really discuss with anybody who would use such an argument, as I have found that to be a waste of energy. Also - as in this case - this type of argument often comes from people who act like Kenny Powers at the end of a coke binge. Another reason not to get into a serious and civil discussion with such a person, in this case: you.
Okay, this is the argument is getting stupid. The wage gap has been shown to be illegitimate time and time again. Get over it. Stop annoying us these notifactions and go back to wasting people's time about BLM on fb
Your whole argument is a strawman. You never actually address any points you can disprove, and you try to shuffle it along to topics you think you can win. And you think some people should not be debated with. Huge, red flag there. Your "civil and serious discussion" sounds an awful lot like an echo chamber to me.
False information only goes around as long as people choose to be willfully ignorant.
