ALRIGHT, EVERYBODY LISTEN THE FUCK UP!
Every movie Mystique has been in, she's been a total badass. She's freaking untouchable. She's one of the strongest characters in the goddamn franchise! By showing her in this vulnerable position in the advertisements, they're showing just how big of a fucking threat Apocalypse is. We're not supposed to look at this and go, "Oh my god, this is showing that women are weak!" It's the exact fucking opposite! We're supposed to go, "Oh my god, this guy took down Mystique! How the hell is anyone supposed to beat him?!"
This isn't disempowering women, it's doing the exact opposite. By choosing Mystique to be the one that Apocalypse overpowers, it shows the audience that Mystique is the biggest threat to him!
I'm just wondering when old bass here (yes, I did that on purpose) will stop spreading hate and realize that he's being just as terrible as the people he puts down. Because in the end, it's not your business.
Yes it is his business. It is EVERYONE'S business. When these feminist hags start screeching about every bit of media in the society that we live in it affects us. I don't want to live in a future where movies are required to have every female character be immortal and infallible. Plus the funny part is, these disgusting feminists who complain about Mystique's portrayal in this poster, are the same feminists who complain that there aren't enough strong female heros in movies. This just goes to show that what they want isn't a hero (because heros always face adversity, male or not) they just want female characters to be absolutely flawless (aka boring and stupid as fuck, just like the dull mind of a feminist).
Firstly, those women that are complaining are NOT feminists. That has never been feminism and it never will be. Secondly, feminists are neither disgusting or dull. Or at least, I don't consider myself to be. No, people shouldn't throw a fit over a stupid poster. But don't blame this one on feminism, because that's not what this is.
@saxylady then you're not a feminist. See, feminism used to be a movement for the equality of the sexes, however, as time progressed and we got much closer to that goal, feminism started to go astray. It started small, with a small amount of members pushing misandrists ideas, but they were considered a minority. However, they were unfortunately not stopped, which allowed them to grow into the majority of feminism. See, feminism is basically just a hijacked movement, and it is so easily hijacked simply because of the name. It's really easy for it to be abused as a platform for misandrists because of the fact that it's called FEMinism. Anyway, with the advent of the internet these minority misandrists were finally able to band together and grow incredibly influential within the feminist community. Now, they do stupid shit like cry about safe spaces and getting triggered by video games, and COMPLETELY IGNORE the injustices towards women in the Middle East and Africa.
This is because it's so much easier for them to complain about petty things in a first world country where they won't actually face any opposition, than to ACTUALLY fight for something that matters in a country that would fight back. If you are a level headed person like you say you are, @saxylady, then you're just simply a person who wants equality, not a feminist. Unfortunately, in 2016, there is a huge difference between these two things.
Ok, UNPOPPULAR OPINION HERE (btw english is not my first language so i'm sorry if i have some mistakes!). First of all, I understand both sides of this story. On one side, I can understand why you think it's some kind of "feminazi" whim. It looks that they only try to hide an image of a woman being weaker than a man. But in the other hand you must try to understand why some women can find this image disturbing. I mean, most domestic violence victims can feel identified by this scene. Usually men who assault their wives/gf/etc tend to impose their domination taking by the neck to their victims. It's one way to demostrate their domination on them. I think that's why people is offended, it's not because it shows women on a weak position. So, I would like to ask all of you to think a little bit in the way you criticize this kind of situations (I'm talking about the movie poster, not the domestic violence). continues...
... Continues Not everyone is trying all the time to look for controversy about this stuff, but to take care of people who have had it hard and still it's not over it. Please, stop trying to mistake feminists with femal supremazy or man hate.
Sorry for the long coment and thanks for reading!
Gender should have been removed from the equation. I have no problem with Mystique getting her ass kicked in the movie. The problem is the image is out of context. Really, I don't think either image belongs on billboard where young children can see it.
Gotta protect the children from reality. That they live in. And have to face. So they'll be really unprepared and crumble, crying about safe spaces when they finally grow up.
Ah see, that's good parenting. Children will always turn out better when we raise them like that. Protecting them all their lives just results in people like "FUCKING SASSY SPRINKLES" from tumblr.
You get to do whatever you want with your children, but by putting images like that so public, you remove the right of others to make that choice. Maybe I would choose to not show my 3 year old violent movies. I don't see whats so crazy about that.
It doesn't harm you any way if they use a different image. They didn't change the movie, but if you can't have everything just the way you want it, even if it harms other people, someone is invading your rights. No one is infringing on your rights.
Just like how it doesn't harm you, or any child, that sees this picture. A fictional blue woman is being choked by a giant, also blue, monster. This will not traumatize anyone of any age. Not everything is gonna be sunshine and rainbows buddy. Get used to the real world.
So fucking what? This empowers women because it shows not only men can be involved in movie fights. If anything this supports equality by showing that Mystique was actually fighting Apocalypse, rather than being some side/support/sexappeal character that females are depicted as right now. Stop being triggered for five FUCKING seconds and understand how mentally handicapped you feminists are. It's disgusting how you guys are so blind and easily enraged that you actually end up fighting AGAINST equality. You should feel ashamed.
for the last time, the ones complaining are not REAL feminists. They're mysandrists or however you spell that. They are the female equivalent of misoginists. Get your facts together before you begin spewing things.
