Any government that may not be funding this, UK for example, who are spending money towards a missile system that's never been used (although I agree, it is being used as a deterrent)
yes because building underwater turbines is the most important thing
not defending countries or trying to feed starving people
no, building underwater air turbines to satisfy your needs and your needs only is the best course of action for all the first world countries.
Which is why I stated it may be useful to keep around as a deterrent. Any how, the place is riddled with people avoiding tax, the president himself, David Cameron, owns a share in an offshore bank. Collectively, it will put a dent in the economy, meaning our hopes for such innovation is decreasing.
Because they're the ones who manage the way the economy is budgeted. I could be very wrong, after all, I'm still a kid. In which case, feel free to downvote me into an oblivion
I would rather educate than ridicule. Most R&D in the US is corporate funded and the resulting good or service is sold to the public. Often good products fail because of cost or poor marketing (Microsoft released a tablet in the 90s that failed, the iPad ten years later was hailed as genius) Most power generation stations are built by companies and the power is sold to the distribution companies that sell it to you. Investors (like me and your parents) invest in companies that innovate and manufacture and we are repaid either on the form of dividends or an increased stock value when we sell our interest in the company. I was new to earning money and saving money and I was heavily invested in wind power and General Motors in 2008. I lost that money and am a little more careful now. Government funded research is usually military or security based (occasionally medical)
He's technically not a part of the government, yet.
Unless he is actually elected, he doesn't hold a position in the government. At all.
That's like saying Kanye West is a senator for Florida, because he says he's going to run in 2020.
Wind turbines kill birds. The environmentalists freak out every time a new wind energy project is proposed in NY. They have successfully delayed and blocked several. That's right, bunny huggers often oppose wind farms. There is just no pleasing some people.
If it is the animals that you're worried about, hydro-electric dams may be the solution, since they use artificial reservoirs and no animals are involved :)
I live within 60 miles of the nation's second largest hydroelectric plants and New York's third largest collection of wind farms. We use coal generated electric. The cheap hydro power is transmitted 450 miles to Long Island where their power is state subsidized and costs nearly 20% less than ours.
Well, we have electric cars (that the coal burned to charge them emits more pollution than modern internal combustion engines). The railroads are not destroyed. Passenger rail travel is government subsidized to ensure it is available as a low cost travel alternative. Transcontinental rail systems haul freight each and every day. Chuck Schumer just got a bill passed forcing rail companies to user stronger tankers because acid, oil and waste are shipped nationwide through rural communities and cities every day. Imported goods travel from the coasts across the nation and grains are shipped from the center of the nation to the seaports. Plywood and car parts ship from Buffalo to the rest of the country and our refineries receive oil from the gulf and Canada. Trains run on oil too. Not sure why you think the railroads are "destroyed"
Chomsky is an elitist who has profited greatly while speaking about income inequality. When a man riding in a limousine tells you that the man in the other limousine is the one responsible for your oppression you should stop and think. His trailer says his family was working class during the depression that he remembers. His online bio states that he was middle class and witnessed, (not endured) hardship during the depression that he was born 1 year before. He is a progressive activist who profits from your fear. I'm sorry you don't see it.
;P Well, if you chose to be part of the problem, I can't help you.
I see that you are an investor. Hmmm, seems like you enjoy big business and profits. Maybe it's more like you're scared of Noam Chomsky, since his views threaten your way of life. Interesting. Tsk Tsk.
So are you the man in the limousine telling me the other man in the limousine is wrong? Hmmm...
@asuremisfire I drive a pickup truck and a tractor. I know that one day my ability to earn will run out so my wife and I invest a portion of our income. Do my views threaten your way of life? I'm scared of philosophers who have no real world experience dreaming up nonsense that adversely effects me.
You're going to have to make it waterproof, rust-proof, hook up the cables, make sure it continuously moves, make sure it angles to currents correctly
AND YOU ASK WHY THIS IS A CONCEPT
We have bladeless wind turbines too, which are no longer a concept. They have a model, but it seems it won't go into production yet. Who knows how long it will be?
I'm thinking this might fuck up underwater life. Some currents are actually vital for transferring warmer or colder water, thus keeping the ocean balanced. I'm obviously not a scientist but this just seems like it'd fuck up marine ecosystems. Any expers on the matter? I'm honestly willing to listen.

Hydro-electric dams are far from the answer..
Big oil companies.
Who do you think destroyed the railroads, and has blocked electric car development?

You're better off leaving. Reason doesn't work on the unreasonable.
