I think the problem with this add was the fact that it wasn't a typical cool poster like the Avengers or Deadpool, but it was just her being choked. That's not something you would hang up on your wall.
The problem is women who are already underrepresented in super hero movies is shown in a position that so many real women face in our own world. It's a terrifying reality and they missed an opportunity to glorify her like they show male superheroes.
So its okay if it were a guy being choked? Normally I care not for this who feminism issue thing or whatever, but would people be ok if that were not a woman but man? I have a close friend who went through abuse like that, doesn't only happen to women, and aren't the feminist fighting to be equal to men or whatever? If so, then I don't see a problem. I'm sorry, i'm very ignorant on this kind of topic, these are whole hearted questions.
It's not that feminists aren't fighting to be equal to men (because they very much are), it's that in the second picture, women are being demoted to a helpless role. And the caption, "only the strong will survive," doesn't help much either. Last time I checked, women were anything but helpless. It's not at all okay for anyone to get choked, but in this situation, it would be—not better, but more beneficial (for lack of a better term)—because 1/3 women are already abused. I'm not saying that it only happens to women, but compared to men, it is much more common. AND they aren't yet equal to men, they are FIGHTING to be equal to men. Which is why this photo is an issue, because (as I stated before), it is setting women back to the stage where they were only perceived as "helpless".
Wow. When did society become weak? Everyone is offended by something. It's. A. Movie. ACTING.... SUPERHEROS.... GUNS... FIGHT SCENES.... Come one guys. Get over this defensive slump.
Another factor to this is that the first one is not an action that looks real or in any way represents real life (it's almost kind of whimsical) but the second shows an action that is very much a reality for many women out there.
Also, the x-men one is a billboard and can't be avoided nearly as easily as someone could avoid a movie poster. Domestic violence victims (men *and* women) have to drive past this giant picture of something that happened to them depicted as though watching a woman get choked to death is the reason someone would go see a movie (after all, dvertisements are designed to attract viewers) whereas someone who has been dangled off a building with one hand could avoid the part of a movie theatre where they show posters for upcoming features, which is not the perfect solution but a hell of a lot easier and probably affecting fewer people out there.
Finally someone with brains and actual thoughts! Her getting choked out is such a reality for women who have suffered domestic and sexual abuse, and it's plain unnecessary. Most super hero posters are either much more heroic or mysterious. Women are already underrepresented in super hero films, why show one getting choked by a bad guy? It was a poor move by their PR department.
Although there is domestic abuse caused by women, you'll find it's never as bad. It's NEVER okay to hit anyone, but it shows she's overcoming the stereotype of being a weak woman. I think neither is that bad, but just saying...
People around the world are also being bombed but that's no reason to not include explosions in movies. I mean, these movies on the get go were taken to be a work of fiction. Instead of being taken aback by the fictional world I think it's better to focus issues on the real world where issues actually exist.

But then again... did they even WATCH X-men Apocalypse? I mean, she played such a huge, powerful role; and was such a big idol for everyone in the movie. That scene was where she basically was trying to save everyone else. Ugh.
I don't see a problem with either, but I can understand why some think that the second ks a problem. Again, I dont agree with it, but here it is: Women are constantly portrayed as a weaker gender, and that picture shows Mystique as not strong enough tk fighth Apocalypse. A woman putting those stereotypes aside and fighting men is empowering because you are showing that youre really strong. Again, I don't see a problem with either one, but just so y'all know where they are coming from. I think that a movie poster is nothing to get offended by, and Apocalypse is stronger than any mutant no matter the gender
Christ has anyone actually seen X-men apocalypse? It was a vehemently women empowering movie. Every female character was depicted as a badass, and the protagonists of the film were two women.

I know, right! That's what I said. People are such idiots.
Some of y’all’s reactions are heartbreaking. You call people who are upset about having to stare at very real abuse snowflakes? I’ve been in that position you think I like having to be reminded of it by one of my favorite franchises? Ya think people like me should just grow up and get over ourselves because we’re weak? Fuck that attitude that’s why so many men and women stay in shitty places getting hurt until they die
The thing with feminists is that they a aren't just about gender equality. They like to put themselves above men to make themselves feel better in society. Acctually, scratch that. I mean a femenazi is what that is. The people that just want it to be equal should just be called gender equalists instead of feminists because it directly represents women when it should really be about both genders.
This image perfectly explains femanizis because they freak out about stupid stuff like the X-Men add, when the super ex-girlfriend one is just as 'bad' as the X-Men one. Femenazis just want to complain. Men are chill. And this is coming from me, a female. And I'm only twelve yet I have more common sense than these feminists.
"He broke her heart. She broke his everything" this explains femenazis also. Men do one simple thing and they turn around like "WHAT DID YOU SAY? *impales skull with mighty death stare*"
It's called feminism for historical reasons. First wave feminism was women organizing to get the Constitutional right to vote, which was focusing on a problem affecting the feminine half of the population. The later waves of the feminist movement grew out of the first one and opted not to change the name even while advocating for gender equality in a way that directly benefits men, too. It's an honor to be connected to those first activists and be part of a movement that was started by people like Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Ida B. Wells.
It's a lot like members of the Democratic Party calling themselves democrats even though the party (and the American government in general) actually functions as a republic. You need a word to differentiate yourself from other political groups and choose a name that harkens back to Ancient Greece because that's where some of our most prized principles of government come from.
If they aren't promoting equality for both genders, they aren't FEMINISTS, they're MISANDRISTS. Misandrists are about putting women above men, which isn't what feminists are about. Educate yourself before you go hating on the wrong people.
I keep hearing women SAY this, but they never resist the misandrists from taking over the feminist movement. Consequently, "feminism" is never about *equality*, but is always "pro-woman," so employ a woman over a man, or give shcolarships and opportunities to women preferentially rather than with mere equal opportunity.
If,you're. "Feminist" that let the misandrists hijack your movement, that's your own fault.
I have a tumblr myself and i do not get easily butthurt so its like
Whaaaaa
Ya get me?
