Thought it was the blood of their enemies from long ago, finally being spewed back out. Sounded cool, then saw that it was some douche bag just throwing in food coloring or something.

Nah. Read the other comments. A douchebag decided to be a douchebag and put dye into the geyser and got arrested for it.
