You can't invent new colors. Colors (our idea of them) are in a wave range, there aren't any outside of it.

There is a theory that the human eye is only able to view a certain percentage of the colour spectrum. If we had more of some sort of receptor in our eyeballs (i cant remember the name) we would see many more colours.
Cones. It's definitely more than a theory though, we know for a fact that the more color cone types that you have, the wider a color range you can see.
What are we seeing though? If our screens can display it it's not a new shade because it's an existing color that can be generated by the screen. If it's a true new color it's beyond our screens' capability to display it hence it's a replacement with the nearest available color our screens can produce?
There actually are colors putside of our visible light spectrum scale only we are not able to see them however women have a higher percentage of having this strange thing happen to them where they are able to see more colors than normal still within the visible light spectrum ofcourse
