No one is going to agree with everything that taxes are used for. So if one person doesn't think defense is worth what we pay and someone else doesn't want to pay for education because they don't have children ... you're never going to agree with everything the money is spent on
... it could be about the defense budget or social security (*sobs softly*), it could be about funding for the arts, it could be about money spent on SETI, it could be about subsidies for any number of special interest groups. We don't know what the guest disagrees with.
In Australia we have spent thousands of dollars to get foreign doctors( because we have a shortage of doctors), instead of employing the ones ready to work. I'm not racist, but should we employ people to work, instead of spending money to get more people?!
I support a couple local groups that provide shelter and food for the homeless. They're mostly staffed by volunteers and everyone cares about the job they're doing and not just punching a clock for a union job.i also am part of a volunteer group that builds wheelchair ramps for handicapped and elderly people who can't pay for that work.
So anybody who says he'd gladly pay for others to get taken care of can instead support these types of organizations, rather than expecting everyone to pay more in taxes and filtering the money through the hands of paid administrators. Unfortunately, my experience is that 90% of those who build themselves up by SAYING they'd pay more really won't support these groups when it comes down to,opening their wallet.
