1. if the door opens out that means if it's not latched properly or if the latch is starting to go bad if the door swings open it swings open all the way exposing you sitting there. Better for it to open in so that you can push it back closed. Plus if it opens in you can't be stuck in there because somebody laid something down in front of the door.
2. what if you stick your foot under that thing right when somebody goes to open the door? You'll get your foot smashed.
