THAT is a brilliant maneuver. I have never understood why some people are deadset (no pun intended) against donating organs. If they were the one slowly wasting away I bet they would have a quick change of heart.
I kind of like the system in which every citizen is a organ donor by default and if you don't want to be (because of religious reasons or whatever), you fill in a card/document. Some countries are using this method and it's much more effective than the other way around (signing smth if you want to donate)
My Catholic school taught us it's against the religion to donate organs. Not sure if that was an official policy, or just my nun... Maybe used to be a church policy and could explain some of the resistance?
