As an American going to college by commuting I can assure you that your parents won't buy you a car you have to do it yourself. Or be a rich family

That's totally not true... My parents bought me a car for when I got my license. We are middle class and my dad was poor growing up and just didn't want to see me taking the bus or walking to school. It was a good investment for everyone because I could help my mom out when she was running late from work and couldn't pick up my sister and drive myself to event at school. You don't have to be rich for your parents to save up money
