It could be not a "by the way kids you are adopted" it could be "Guess what kids we are adopting you" cause that is how I read it.
ps it is so photo shopped just look how the letters are all written with chalk but the adopted part is just made to look like it is but it is clearly done by a computer.

I'm pretty sure this is photo shopped by someone who is sick of the cutesy overly posed facebook fodder.
