Dictatorship in itself isn't bad, only when the dictator decides to use the power for, for lack of a better word, evil. A benevolent dictator can also push forward on good policies with minimal resistance.
... seriously? obama nearly gave our internet to the UN. this move would have made us lose most of what made the internet great. it would have gone into the hands of countries that don't hold the same freedoms of speech as we do. this literally almost happened on the 1st of October. if it wasn't for republican states suing Obama for it, the move would have already happened. they bought us time, and you like obama. WTH. we may still lose the internet and no body cares...
As much as I dislike Obama, from what I understand the move was to give the IANA to ICANN not the UN. I've read it in three seperate sources. I still think it was a bad move, but at least the internet is now an independent entity, rather than being owned by any one government. Of course, if it were to be owned by any one government, I can thinko f much worse owners than the US.

actually ICANN already regulates the domains and that is what we need to keep. they are an American company. media were twisting information and say how ICANN was failing. obama said they were going to move control to the UN. the problem who ever dictates the domains, can also censor it through governing laws. if China or Russia wanted something shut down because they disagree with it, they can suspend domains from the sites who hold those opinions. as the creators of the internet America is best to govern it due to our absolute freedom of speech. i may not know everything about this subject. i have my toes in a lot of pools and only spent a few hours on this subject, but we need to make sure our delicate internet isn't trampled on.
