Never underestimate a baby. They learn incredibly fast. Each day the rules change.
third · 8 years ago
They still don't become intelligent for several years.

babies have the highest learning potential out of all the stages of human life. based on one definition of intelligence, the ability to learn, babies are, in fact, highly intelligent. the fact that they could learn so much from essentially nothing, so quickly, makes it justified to call them intelligent

and what the fuck is with your vendetta against babies? arent you like 11 yourself?

Learning ability is just that. Nothing to do with intelligence. Nor do I not have a vendetta against babies, just people making idiotic claims and missattributing desirable traits because they thing something's cute.

The baby in the video CLEARLY figured out that it gets picked when he puts his head down on the cat. That's intelligence
third · 8 years ago
No that is not intelligence. That is learning, based on trial and error, and what it learned requires basically no intelligence to understand. Pretty much anything in the animal kingdom could do that.

Intelligence is the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills... babies have a greater ability to acquire knowledge and skills then an adult
third · 8 years ago
No it fucking isn't. Learning is learning. Intelligence is reasoning. High level reasoning. Babies are not smart, and certainly not smarter than adaults as per your definition. I think you are confusing the actual definition of smart, with any number of common misuses of the word.

Honestly, regardless of what we use to define intelligence, there IS one thing we can agree on: the fact that you don't satisfy either.

Right, I forgot that not ogling over something "cute" like that, then objecting when people use in accurate positive terminology makes you an idiot. Unlike the people who don't seem to know what words like intelligence mean. But then again how could you?

Google "Intelligence" I was using the definition that popped up... I didn't just pull something out of my ass.
third · 8 years ago
Fair enough I suppose. However on Wikipedia, I'd does mention that there is controversy over the definition, as well as mine. And the word as it is most commonly used follows that definition, which in the vaguest terms is high level reasoning. Which this is not.
