I think a memorial tattoo is okay, but if you find another line down the road, would you rather have a name on your body or a different tattoo to remember your loved one? Personally I think whatever you do to dedicate yourself to the memory is admirable and beautiful, just that's something I know friends have considered

I've been with my husband nearly 10 years and I'd never ever EVER get his name tattooed on me! We both agreed that it's stupid.
I think it is only a good idea if the person's gf/bf/wife/husband has past away and it is to remember them.

Also I plan to get a tattoo of a charm bracelet and each charm represents someone or something important in my life. For my husband I plan to add a guitar. So incase we (which I doubt) break up I can say it is for something elese. Lol

That's so lovely. I've been planning on doing something similar, but incorporating birth stones I think. It's such a sweet idea for many reasons though, and there are so many options besides names
Hey does anyone know about how much it would cost to get the Galactic Empire insignia on my shoulder?

Depends on the artist and the size you want. The guy we go to charges about 150-175 for something that fills the palm of your hand, and 50 for anything about the size of a half dollar or less. He's really good though, so a different artist may be cheaper. Most shops have a Facebook page and you can message someone and ask about some stuff, but usually you go into the shop to talk price. But our friends say their people charge around the same our person does, so its probably safe to use those as a comparison.
Is it bad form to go into the shop just to, like, get an estimate? That way I know how much to save up.

Not really. Just walk in, say it's your first tattoo, bring a reference photo for general size and stuff. And just be polite, ask about how much, and if it's reasonable to you and you're already for it, ask how to go about making an appointment and get it set up if you want. Or if it's too much for now, tell them alright, when you get enough money saved, what do you do? And ask to see some of their work (can't stress this enough, just because it's a professional shop doesn't mean the artists can tattoo well). And it's okay to go to differrnt shops. Just don't be obvious to the tattooer you're gonna "shop around".
