Why should you do this because they aren't wearing costumes?

Because they're not doing Halloween right! It's the effort devoted to the costume that earns the reward of candy.

I've had people in their late teens come up to the door without a costume and it was blatantly obvious that they just wanted to cash in on the free candy without putting in any effort whatsoever

Caramel covered onions and hard boiled eggs dipped in chocolate and wrapped as a Cadburry egg...those are good pranks too

People don't accept candy not in packaging, they'll throw it out for fear it's laced or whatever.

Or just give it to the kids who are clearly bratty little shits. Costume or no costume.

When I'm trick-or-treating, I never accept candy that isn't wrapped or straight out of a packet
