Not really the same thing because those plates can be passed down to some one after they are gone tattoos can't. Also a good china plate goes up in value the older it is. And those dishes are for company not relatives.
Only way this would work is if they had something that is worthless and cost alot to get but once they die it is gone.
P.s. I'm not dissing tattoos just saying this example is not a good one.
I beg to differ Mrs. Collector: I've tried selling 30 year old China though several different venues and no takers. Even consignment shops wouldn't take it saying people just don't go for China anymore. Folks today like simple gatherings without the fanfare. Plus, many don't use their China in fear that someone might break or chip a piece. If someone breaks a plate, I run over to Target and replace it. No big deal. My tattoos mean something to me but due to your user name, I understand your passion.
I love tattoos, on other people and myself. Every single one means something and that meaning will stay with me forever, it's like painting a story on your skin. I don't care what older people say because by the time I'm their age I'd be happy if I'm still able to have solid shits.
