We use home-made soap. Haven't needed fabric softener in a year. Also, no Skin Allergy Roulette, so....
Also, if you don't have the facilities to make your own soap, you can always just use the bagged stuff from the end of the aisle with the label in Spanish. Way cheaper, does more loads, fewer fragrances most of the time, works fine. Might need a little fabric softener? Maybe. If you're really sensitive.
