i think it may have to do with the current shitty state of affairs in the real world combined with the novelty of internet communities and special snowflakeism - people who grew up in the nineties think that they're special and their childhood was special, so in order to escape the cold hard reality of the ruined economy and the war on terror and the new president they prefer to reminisce about better times in a minimal-effort and non-threatening way.
but that's just my theory
I don't this whole "90's kids" thing, I mean I was a 90's kid myself but it kind of sounds like we're degrading others and presuming our lives were better then theirs.
It was better. Kids now have brainwashing social media and girls that post pictures of their butts on Instagram at 15..... What we had were hopes and dreams.
I do agree with some of that and yes media has become an incredibly influential tool and is used by almost everyone, but I don't think it destroys peoples hopes and dreams. Those are just a part of our basic mind set. I do understand your point though.
I hate it when people say 90's kids because I was born in 2002 and I could name everybody in the picture. I wasn't just the 90's it was the early 2000's too
but that's just my theory
