I tell my little brother (who is six) that our stuffed toys are alive but they're only pretending to be inanimate. So now, when he comes home, we both sneak very quietly to his room and try to catch all the stuffed toys in on the action. Of course, they always hear us and freeze before we open the door - but it's so nice to see him exhilarated by the idea of his stuffed toys being alive and it also makes him treat all his toys with lots of care. :)
