Can you give me a quick take? Like he makes animations but they aren't considered anime. Is that because he rejects the over sexualized women in some anime?

I dunno how to word it properly. Like he focuses on the fantastic and the mystical while teaching children life lessons that adults won't look too closely to notice. He focuses on the story and how it's told, not romances and gore. Those just help enhance the story telling, but they are far from the focus
Okay, so Miyazaki focuses on what I guess would normally be called children's stories? Miyazaki/Ghibli movies are technically anime in that they're traditional animation from Japan, but they don't fit into the usual anime format (not made for TV slots) and don't fall into any of the major commercial genres.
Sorry, didn't realize I wasn't logged in. It's hard to find an anime that would be considered similar to Miyazaki because you have to dig for ones that aren't formulaic anymore. The closest you'd come would be in the shonen action or magical girl genres, but those also have their cliches and nods to mainstream commercial storytelling that take them farther from Ghibli, and VERY few of them in the modern industry have the same themes of respect for the environment and for the spirit/spirits of the world that the older Ghibli movies do.
Idk the only Shonen I've watched is Naruto. I never had any complaints besides fillers. But I don't watch a lot of anime either. I just connected with Naruto being a loser and being ostracized and working towards being known and liked. It obviously works out better for him lol
Magi's an interesting one - it takes a bunch of the usual Shonen cliches and adds in the kind of cultural commentary usually tackled more in the sci-fi segment. I'm also fond of Yu-Gi-Oh, but that's more nostalgia than anything.
Frankly I disagree on what abel said
Miyazaki production are not shonen, the action in his films are just the background
The closest regular anime for me is a seinen/slice of life
The guy is weak, he loses, he's strong, he loses he's stronger
The characters are caricature
