Raise the minimum wage everyone has to raise their prices to accommodate the more money they are giving to their employees. Than you think about the fact gas is going due to not only people being paid more but also the country having wars with the people.who provide the gas. So it goes up. Than the cars are becoming more like a house on wheels than just a car. Cars use to have a radio, a heater, an ac, and an engine. Thats it. Now they have heated seats dual ac/heater, cars start at the push of a button, they have usb plugs, aux cords, INTERNET, screens to watch tv/videos, seatbelts that have been tested many times to lock in place and sace lifes, not to mention the MANY air bags when cars use to have 1 only ONE. And don't get me started on what people expect from houses. Just have a look at a house from 1960 3 bedroom 1 bathroom and a home bulit in 2000+ 3 bedroom 1 bathroom and tell me how you easily see it cost more.
Prices went up because we as consumers and employees demanded more
Well for one we (I'm talking about the usa) keep printing money for one which is lowering the value of a dollar. There's more to it than that though. And I said I'm not some economist, but it's not because "we as consumers demanded more." Your rant about the car doesn't make sense either. Old shitty cars still cost more now without those incredibly expense aux cords and USB ports and fancy dancy features.
You do know that we as burn bills or melt down coins that equal to the amount of money we create. We print bills and stamp out coins only to replace ones that are old, torn, tattered, and/or been out of circulation for a long time and is no longer what the new bills look like. This is done to make sure that the money is unable to be copied and so you don't recive bills or coins that or so messed up that people won't accept them.
About the cars once a car becomes old it is and it cost more it is due to emotional prices. Like if you said to me you wanted to buy my 1970s Volkswagen Beetle covertable... (Car of my dreams) I would say no way I am selling it for less than 25000 even though I got it for 15000 and I already replaced parts on it from breaking and it is showing signs of breaking again. It just means to much to me to sell it. So you pay the extra 10000 just because I feel it should cost that much.
This isnt a world of all cars cost x amount and so on. It is a broken system.
I take back the bit about the "government printing money." That's a common misconception apparently. I can't explain inflation, but I'm saying the reason you gave for it isn't true. And saying ALL old cars sell high because of "sedimental reasons" is bullshit. It's because of inflation.
Part of it is due to inflation but another part is to sentamental value. Why do you think a 1966 Ford Mustang cost around 40k when a 1966 Pontiac Bonneville cost around 12? Because the ford mustang is more in demand because more people have sentimental value towards it. It doesnt mean one car is better than the other it means one just has more fans.
I'm not talking about nice cars that are worth more because theyre "vintage." A shitty, run-down, old rust bucket truck that reaks of cigarettes will sell for more than it would have 30 years ago.
Don't forget the building codes and energy codes have changed drastically (looking at you NY) and forced housing prices up. Safety standards on vehicles have gone from front seat belts to 6 airbags, a mandatory backup camera, traction and stability control and a satellite uplink for entertainment. Farm equipment has increased in price and food safe handling procedures have drastically changed. As we become more "civilized" and set the standards higher we raise our own cost of living until eventually there will be a tipping point.
@mrscollector you hit the spot more than I hit a g spot. These spoiled brats wouldn't understand it if you took a pencil and draw it out to them. They throw away 2 week "old" iPhones. When I was their age I licked yoghurt lid in order to use as much of it as i can. I wore same jeans for week. I walked everywhere. These kids will eat us alive... I don't know what to do.

increase of quality, the increase of min wage, the loss of jobs overseas and the greed of big business.
You dont have to buy a $40k truck or a $1400 a month house. Spend within your means you retarded cunt. No wonder you're poor.
Edit: @occams_gillette i live in Cupertino so fuck off. You don't have to live in an expensive area; you can move
Edit2: @occamns_gillette Its cuz u said 'have you ever tried to live in Sacramento?' so i raped ur challenge in the ass. I dont move cuz i dont need to. If you're not economically successful enough to live in rich areas, move to cheaper areas, dumb cunt.
Have you ever tried to live in Sacramento? Or, god forbid, the San Francisco Bay Area? My girlfriend lives in Mesa Arizona and has a TINY house and still has to pay more than 1400 a month. and before you say "then move to somewhere where it's less expensive to live" moving itself is INCREDIBLY expensive. Think before you speak.

moving is not that bad. i should know, i moved nearly every year of my life. it isn't that hard, nor that expensive. since you pay for the month before the month starts, that means at the end of the last month you don't pay. you only need first, last and security deposit. that is roughly $2000-$3000 needed to move, then the cost of the moving truck. it is relatively cheap and easy. i was able to preform this task at 18 working at an Arby's, with no help from anyone else. i have full house full of furniture to move too. my parents moved out of the house, then i took over the rent and they no longer needed the furnishings, since their new place was set up for them. just mentioning it since it explains, that i needed a large truck. BTW this is FL. even further than that many storage places offer the first month for $1.
@eternal1 "As of January 2017, average apartment rent within the city of of Cupertino, CA is $3004. One bedroom apartments in Cupertino rent for $2463 a month on average and two bedroom apartment rents average $3200." https://www.rentjungle.com/average-rent-in-cupertino-rent-trends/ What the fuck was your point? Congratulations for you you can afford to live in a fucking expensive place to live. Why don't YOU move? Your reading comprehension is shit.
Haha. Occams Gillette is sucha snob snot kid. "Moving only costs a fortune" (?!). Don't you have friends with trucks? If I paid moving company and it's workers and their fuel and "packing included" every time I moved, I'd move to the streets till I was 21! And if I as a snob had "bare necessities" like leaf blower AND a snowblower and blender and mixer and electric toothbrush and pizza stove and hot dog maker and bagel cutter and still rarely eating at home, travel 2miles distances by subway, throwing away 2 week "old" shoes (and iPhones) clothes and throwing away half of pizza in trash. You need beating. Not a slap. Real beating, broken lip one, no matter how young you are.
Wow I didn't imply ANY of that and yet you threaten me with violence? I'm an adult who has also moved several times, and I'm sharing my experience as an example of how inconsiderate it is to assume that everyone has it as good as you do. And you have the audacity to tell me I need to be beaten. Literally go fuck yourself. Also you don't LIVE in the united states unless you're just lying out your ass about Yugoslavia (and I wonder if you are because Yugoslavia doesn't exist anymore) How old are you that you lived in Yugoslavia when it was still a country? Are you just some grown ass adult literally screaming about irrelevant things? Making up random shit about snow blowers and toasters? Literally what the fuck is wrong with you.
Haha, there MUST be dictionary somewhere out there with your picture next to the"retarded person" word.... You don't have to imply, I GUARANTEE you own a dryer, for clothes, instead of, just like me, drying it out on the fucking terrace, or snow blower instead of just using a fucking shovel (you people pay other people to mow your lawn, repair your roof, installation, build your homes), I don't even own an air conditioner, I simply open the windows, and not just me, 85% of us do. Things you take for granted. Things you don't need, but buy them. You throw away your money like mad, and complain you don't have money. It's mental illness. You're that meme with stick put in bicycle wheel and then asking people to help you. You need to be beaten, until you learn. Not to pay moving trucks! Whyare you saying"You don't live in USA", like you're having tough times, and I'm inconsiderate. It's other way round, you spoiled brat. You are spoiled! And idiot @occams_gillette
And also.... you could be 14 yo and born in Yugoslavia. It's not thaaat old. But, you just prove. ..you know nothing, and you live in a bubble, and think you know everything, and just make yourself dumb
Isn't it because of inflation? e.g. 100$ back then is the equivalent of 500$. Things aren't more expensive (well they kinda are), the numbers are just bigger.
The point is that everything else has inflated by multiples of 5 and 6 and 7 while wages have only doubled, so things are more unaffordable than before.
We in Yugoslavia had 12, 000% inflation. Yes you read it right... 4, 000 000 000 dinars (8 US $) month salary. Eight bucks! By the time you run to the shops from work, it vanishes into the thin air eaten by inflation. How did we get there. By spending our 1000$ US $ salaries on trinkets, on vacations, on 40,000$ car,on microwaves, leaf blowers, eating drinking it away, buying clothes... While having work hours shortened, expanded paid vacations, 2h long lunch breaks, 3rd child was practically raised by state, free colleges....... Just like most of Europe now (and they think they're on the right track) and you ask US to do the same. STFU and calm your tits. Or eat tree barks like us (1989 -1000$ salary.... 1991 eating bark)

man, sounds like germany post WWII. they had to let people take a break halfway through work because the price of bread could double by time they got home. crazy.
Why are you telling me to STFU? All I said was that things are more unaffordable than they were in the 70s and that people are struggling. Why is this such a controversial topic?
Someone from a generation or two prior to this guy could describe the wonderful living they made as a typewriter repair person or a horse harness maker from before everybody drove a car. Certain kinds of things move on and you aren't sure of being able to earn a living at any activity that you should happen to decide you want to do. When I started my job as an engineer, I also couldn't afford to buy a brand-new $40,000 truck or whatever it would have cost at that time. Lots of people can't afford to buy such an incredible luxury, and it was lucky that this guy was able to do so.
Prices went up because we as consumers and employees demanded more
