@silvermyth While you're partly correct about picking music I beg to differ about your gold statement. Obviously there is no era where every song from every artist in every genre is gold, particular if you don't like that type of music, but if we go genre by genre I submit that the 70's were pretty much solid gold throughout.
If you're into bubble gum pop, we had The Osmonds, Donna Summer, Elton John; if you're into R&B we had James Brown, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder. Into rock? How about Aerosmith, Bob Seger, AC/DC, Kiss, Queen, Lynnyrd Skynnyrd, and the all-mighty Led Zeppelin. Maybe you prefer to bang your head? Black Sabbath, Motorhead, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and of course Quiet Riot baby! Maybe your neck's a little red. Kenny Rogers, Waylon Jennings, and Asleep at the Wheel have something for you.
Dance? C'mon, man! Name another era that's more about dance than Disco! The Bee Gees, ABBA, and Lipps Inc. will be more than glad to help you rail that bag of China White you just bought in the men's room! Maybe you're into rap. I can't understand why in hell you would be but where do you think it came from? Curtis Blow, Grandmaster Flash, and The Sugar Hill Gang evolved their styles from 70's R&B and Funk.
I'm not saying 70's music is all I listen to, but regardless what your favorite genre is today it all comes from the pioneers of 70's music. Solid. Gold. Decade.
