Really though I have had people act like I'm worse for not going to church at all when they're the ones thinking going at least makes any bad things they do justifiable
"All Muslims are shitty skinned and stealing jobs hurr durr" "Conservatives don't live up to those stereotypes" "You don't have an argument so you're insulting durr"
I was simply demonstrating how it has become acceptable to berate Christians but it is taboo to speak ill of the other big religions. Thank you for proving my point.
Christians do. But being a Christian doesn't automatically mean that you have no flaws. I started to realise this when I got older and started interacting with adults in my church. After witnessing people gossiping about others, talking behind their backs etc, it really got me thinking.
And it's not just that. During the week people can do the most disgusting, and outrageous things in private, then come to church and look down at people who do those things openly.
It's a really bad problem, and it needs to be fixed
Thats a problem not unique to Christians, and that's something each person needs to deal with on their own. Mocking Christians on the internet isn't going to help anybody.
Folks just further proving your point Pokethebear... I see what you meant and I think the fallout speaks volume to the point you were trying to get across.
For those who saw fit to downvote me, I was talking about how people always pressure me to go to church, even though I don't believe in it. I wasn't shitting on anybody's beliefs so calm your tits
Place of worship? Make it neutral for your point instead of specific is your intent of argument and fair as a comment. However poster and creator may be of that religion and speaking in a personal way relate able to themselves. I don't think they were attacking one religion and excluding others. Going to and checking off a list doesn't make you a good person, being a good person makes you a good person moral applicable to all.
Love the backlash at pokethebear... he points out the hypocrsy of calling out one religion over another and people go on the offense. Where is the outrage over the OP's use of Christianity? In response to Melisa62943's argument of the OP's use of a "personal example", what's to say that the Jewish faith isn't Pokethebear's personal example?
I was pointing out that you could substitute the house of worship of any major religion and not just Christians. Judging by the torrent of downvotes rained down on me and the number of upvotes the post has most people disagree with me.
I think the disagreement comes from it being unecessary ? Of course other religions have people like this who go into their houses of worship. That's not something you can really deny unless you have a tiny religion. And the terms can be easily replaced, there's not really anything you gain by trying to point out something that no one gives a shit about. I'm pretty sure the people of non Christian faiths that do this replaced it in their head already. Plus, I don't really think you can tell how many people have downvoted you anymore. It could just be one person who really doesn't like you but idk.
