As a black male I hate seeing these videos of black folk claiming that the cops have abused them when clearly all they needed to do to not be "abused" is to shut their fucking traps and comply with what the officer is telling them to do.
THIS....THIS IS WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS TO UNDERSTAND...get out of your fucking race and color box and realize we all bleed the same. use common sense, respect other people and their values, and be polite.
Your car does not need to be off when a police officer pulls you over. If he asks you to turn it off, you should, but until then it does not need to be, it is merely a courtesy.
Agreed. I say this because I know quite a few police officers. They are not going to act cautious or hasty with someone unless they have a reason too. I have been with my black friend who is wealthy and drives a Lexus. If you are respectful to the officers and give them the same respect you expect to be treated with it will be a good encounter. IF they ask you to put your hands up...its probably a good idea to put your hands up. If you don't have anything to hide then there shouldn't be a problem. Yes, im not saying there aren't crooked cops out there because as we all know there is.
Well, duh. Not all cops have to be racist assholes. But if 1 in 100 cops is going to be one, you're still gonna be scared shitless when they pull you over. And I'm sorry, but unless I start reaching for something they can't see, it shouldn't make a fucking difference whether I'm polite to the cop or not.
I have made eye contact with a cop as I disobeyed him (giving a feminine hygeine product to a homeless woman who requested it), and didn't get so much as touched, but I also recognize that that's because of a laaaaaarge number of intervening factors, and there are places where my actions would have gotten me tazed or worse.
