Anonymous took over Freedom Hosting II, which hosted the 10,000 sites. They didn't take down 10,000 individual sites. Anonymous is the only one claiming these sites featured mostly child porn. Most researchers say the sites were mostly bitcoin services, scams, and hacking forums.

honestly taking down the websites does nothing because people who are really into that just find other sites like that which I bet there is plenty of. This is why the government does not really spend their time with them.

Which seems all cool until you realize now the government can't track down and punish everyone who made or used those sites

Doesn't the government leave those sites up to help track the bad guys?

They didn't take down any websites, they just knocked out a network of servers.

Government could learn a lot from anonymous. About how to ludicrously overblow their accomplishments.
