No joke, a Polish man walked into the chemist, and he didn't know how to ask for a pregnancy test, and he said "maybe there's a baby, maybe not". Hahahahahahahaha

In this sense, a chemist would be a pharmacist...for the Americans who don't call them chemists.

Always thought they were pretty self explanatory myself, but to each their own

Well, they aren't actually chemists. That's probably why we don't call them that. Not that everyone's job title makes sense.

Y'all downvote for anything around here, huh? Bad form.

Actually, when he quoted the Pole, it would remain 'maybe baby maybe no'

They're probably called chemists in other countries as sometimes doctors will create a custom prescription and pharmacists are then expected to create it. More often than not it's a topical solution but also for certain liquids they have to mix them themselves. I work as a pharmacy tech and we have what we call compounding stations it's where all the fun mixing and flavoring happens.

Perhaps so. I'd probably be called a chemist, too. It varies, but around half of my day is making solutions. However, I might also be called a physician, microbiologist, computer scientist, physicist, or even pharmacist on the basis of particular activities.

Most pharmacies are called a pharmacy on their signage but generally in conversation we'd say e.g. "I need to go to the chemists", we still call the pharmacist a pharmacist.

Oh so it's like slang for pharmacists? I usually just call them licensed drug dealers

Why do scots tweet in their accent? Like that's not how they would spell it when writing formally...right?

Twitter isn't formal though. This is probably Scottish slang

True, maybe. It just seems strange to type your accent. Like Southerners don't type in drawl, Bostonians don't spell car "cah", etc
