I'd feel awkward saying it to anyone I knew. Like... "hey so we, um, we found these paintings, and, um, well I'm kinda rich now. Uh. Yeah." Or maybe 'stunned' is a better word.
I think the awkwardness part comes from trying to decide whether to keep them as heirlooms, or sell them and split the profit as part of the inheritance.
take that money, invest half in high risk high yield that should net you a 10-15% ROI compounded at least 4x a year, put the other half in savings, keep working... and just... be happy 20 years from now.
