Perhaps it's spinning quickly and, basically using it's back fins to direct it's course.
Is only a guess though. I haven't seen the video.
The fins keep it steady and I assume it's just impacting the panels.
As long as the tip doesn't catch on something and the angle isn't too strong it would slide along like most anything else thrown.
as it's pushing aside air as it travels, it compresses the air between the dart and the panels just enough to create enough force to change the darts direction so it doesn't hit the panel.
