Usually reverses itself in a few weeks. *Usually.

It even has a name: Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy.
It's recognised and possibly treatable if it gets bad enough. Complications, though rare, can also be fatal:

Well fuck.

It happen to my grandpas cat.He found it as a kitten in an old tire at the factory he worked.It was no bigger than a plum.He carried it in his front pocket all day.When he got home instead of taking a nap like he normally did he made a tiny bottle of milk and oatmeal and fed it to the kitten like a baby. He did this every day he took it to work with him even though my grandma could of taken care of it. He wanted to do it. Each time he fed it it would fan its feet so he named it fanny. That cat wouldn't take food from anyone. Only from him. You could trick her if she didnt see you put the food in the bowl but if she saw you do it she would refuse to eat. It lived to be 16 because the day it died was my grandpa's funeral. It was acting so sad all day. It died in my grandpa's chair. The poor little thing. My grandma was worried it got poisoned so took it to the vet to see what happen. They said it was in perfect health it shouldn't of died.

i don't think takotsubo happens because of broken heart strings. i'm p. sure it happens for other non-ischemic reasons and it definitelly had a great prognosis compared to AMI. 2/3 of patients fully recover in takotsubo sy.
