This is why my boyfriends dad stays away from children. He's Peruvian and his passion is playing, helping, and nurturing children, he lights up whenever a baby smiles at him, but he is adamant at keeping his distance and not making too much eye contact with children. I feel so bad for him because all he would like to do is play with the kids he sees and make them laugh. When he is playing with his niece on the playground and an American kid comes up to him and starts playing with him too he goes "no way" and back away because he knows things like this happen
Story time: lol
So my brother who is 2 yrs younger than me looks like big foot. Big, tall, hairy, doesn't smile, and the sweetest, funniest guy I know. But because he looks like this he refusses to go near any kids under 16 that he is not related to lol. He works at a gas station and one day there was a 6 yr old girl who wondered in. He was there all alone that day. He assumed the girl came from the apartments near by. She said she was lost and wants her mom. My brother instead of calling the police calls our mom to come there and when she got there said she has to say she was there the whole time. Than called the cops. The first question they asked the little girl is if he touched her. My mom said no I was here the whole time. Since than he told his boss either have a female coworker work with him or get a lock on the door and he will just lock the kid out and call the cops for her next time. (The store doesn't have a lock because it is a 24/7 store and the lock broke years ago)
This story is a mess from beginning to end...on one hand, the guy was trying to find her parents. On the other, at one point the child apparently became visibly agitated and tried to escape from him, so he picked her up against her will and carried her on. The child's father and two other men apparently found him headed to the parking lot with her and believed she was being kidnapped. It was the child's father who assaulted the guy, and as of printing the father still doesn't think the man is innocent. I just...why would you take the kid anywhere!? Stay right there! Parents will be looking! If you can, send another bystander to ask around for parents, don't walk the kid away. You have to remember even if you're trying to help, this is a chikd and you're a strange adult, you can do some damage if they don't fully understand what's going on.
