looking at this i can only think of the one scooby doo live action movie where velma is in the latex suit and has to keep saying she isn't farting its just the suit.
The other women wearing corsets in the movie didn't have unrealistic shapes. No one was asking her to tighten it to the point of that girl in Cinderella or anything like that.
If you would please read papajohns comment; This picture is fake. It's just like when they photoshopped latex pants on her using a picture of one of her interviews. It's for people with fetishes. I've never seen Emma Watson in latex, so please calm down.
Guest, I've seen the comment now but as you can see I posted my comment way before theirs.
Klymaxx, while that is true corsets were more of a fashion piece and though Belle is supposed to be " odd " And all that, if she was wearing a dress that was supposed to be from a high class wardrobe it's more than likely it would involve needing a corset ( as well as some other parts the dress did not have )
Are you referring to the yellow ball gown? Not arguing Just asking...wasn't that made special for Belle? Maybe knowing she wouldn't wear a corset the wardrobe lady made her a dress that didn't require a corset or anything else?
Well it's mainly the yellow ball gown and the end scene dress ( the white one with the flowers that seemed too much like Cinderellas ) and the designer didn't come up with it. Emma did. The directors ( or producers or whoever's in charge ) gave her creative freedom and that cause Christmas tinsel on the bodice and glitter glue on the skirt. She decided she wanted to go in a more " modern " direction with her dresses which made it look VERY wrong and messed with the aesthetic of the movie.
I meant more like in the actual story...didn't the talking/singing wardrobe lady make the ball gown for Belle? "if she was wearing a dress that was supposed to be from a high class wardrobe it's more than likely it would involve needing a corset" Maybe it wasn't something that was already made and lying around the castle. If so and her knowing Belle maybe she designed the dress without all that crap? I agree the ball gown was a huge let down. I also think her reasons for not wanting to wear a corset are..not stupid just weird.
I don't know if it was the corset, it was more that the dress was a mustard monstrosity. The movie wasn't exactly historically accurate, either. Belle's mum died of the plague of all things.
I don't know honestly. Maybe that's the case but someone creating a fashionable piece back then most likely would've added a corset as they would a hoop. The dress was just bad though and I personally feel her reasoning for it was stupid.
Also, with a bit of research, the plague did pop up quite a bit until the 1800s so it's entirely possible she did get it, but there are also other plagues that have popped up, especially in cramped cities like Paris. Unless they mentioned bubonic plague by name ? I can't remember
I can't remember either, but I seem to recall a plague doctor. Was there ons? Maybe she was making a bs excuse for not wanting to wear a corset. I remember, I was visiting a historic place, and the people there were having us try on corsets. I remember feeling intensely uncormfortable, not because of the mild pressure of the garment, but because of the comments and attention. I felt really weird, almost vulnerable. Emma Watson is an actress, she must be used to such things.
I'm not exactly sure on the history of plague doctors but I know that the typical mask was use for potpourri and to " scare " what was causing the sickness ( aside from being a garment to help protect them from getting sick. ) so I would assume that when a sickness was running rampant the doctors would bring them out ? Not sure though. ( also I believe there was a mask on the desk ? )
And what kind of comments were you getting ? Also yeah I would assume she'd be used to it but she'd be in a place where everyone's supposed to be professional and acting for the most part and in similar costume to her.
And how does it smell...

It's exceptionally well done though.
