The "lol, women" premise is more than used, and counterproductive as fuck. These jokes confirm the place of women as inferior to men, especially in science. I work as a math teacher, and guess what? Women are better at math than men, from first to twelfth grade, yet they think they cannot do math as well as men. That's a systemic problem, and these kinds of jokes are part of the problem.
I'm not even a fucking feminist. That's just the way it is. I have to tell young ladies, AND THEIR PARENTS, that they actually CAN carry out scientific studies because of shit like these jokes.
*sigh* i literally got downvoted for agreeing with someone, so that's a good demonstration of the level we're on with this post. nothing i said was offensive. maybe "rude" when I said that Tyson didn't get the joke, but nowhere near "offensive" to the point of making young women think they don't have the potential to succeed.
people take jokes too seriously. this kind of joke was hilarious on FS like a month ago. why everyone is suddenly pissed off as if I said that "women don't deserve meaningful jobs in society" or something to that effect is beyond me, but clearly everyone on this post is assuming I did. have fun in your echo chamber because this is just a waste of my time at this point.
This whole "discussion" misses an important point: This is how women really act. On average, you get a lot more of this reaction from women. Of course, not all women are 100% like that, and not all men are completely unlike that. But as a gender, women pull that stuff much much more than men.
In the interest of fairness, if there were a joke about a man radioing back to NASA and then not asking directions, I'd say that depicted a male trait. Certainly not all men are like that, and definitely not in the situation of being in space. But disliking having a foible being noticed and joked about doesn't make it false.
Jfc i like him on CinemaSins and his podcast but this was clearly a joke that went over his head.
NASA: just tell us what’s wrong
woman: Just leave me alone
NASA: okay, if that’s what you—
woman: I just find it funny how...
I'm pretty sure he understands the joke, but it's not that funny and the premise is pretty tired. I would tell the author to try again and this time not to lean on such well worn tropes.
"premise is pretty tired"

No, Neil, it's funny because women can be passive-aggressive as fuck. Also, you expect me to believe that women did ALL the calculations leading up to the moon landing? All of them? I don't buy it. I'll buy that women did a shitload of the calculations, maybe even the majority of them, but not ALL of them.

I have yet to, but if it feels as good as this "joke", then I guess I'm straight.
It's a joke, nothing more.
This shit happens to both genders, don't get your panties in a twist

Like seriously, can you not see how pointless your argument is?
I sure am

One example, please. I find that hard to believe.
