I took EMT classes all through high school. All I had to do was take a test and I would have become one but after the stuff I saw...yea it wasnt for me.

Instead, ask "What's the funniest thing you've ever seen?"
Okay my favorite was this lady who called 911 about 4am saying she woke up with a hole in her head. Bad neighborhood, everybody yelling, complete chaos. Gunshot wound? Nope. Cleared up with a laceration from her too tight curler.
Depends on your point of view. Your training is going to suck whole lot more, that's for certain. You're going to have basic training where ever it is they send you... 8-10 weeks at Fort Jackson South Carolina would be my guess. Then AIT at Fort Sam Houston in Texas for however long medic school is.
At this point, normally you'd be done and you'd get assigned to a unit. With Airborne on your contract, you're going to Fort Benning Georgia for three weeks of airborne school. Hope and pray you're there during the winter, if not, it's going to suck worse. A LOT worse.
But don't let me discourage you. If you want "Honor and Glory," you're going to have to Embrace the Suck first. Airborne Combat Medic? Don't be surprised when the Rangers and the Special Forces come to recruit you.
Now go. Go and do yourself proud. All you need is to be an unrelenting stubborn sonofa bitch and you'll do just fine.
PS top tip: you'll probably get assigned to the 82nd out of Fort Bragg. Request the 173rd ACB out of Vicenza Italy. Why? Freekin' Italy and Europe man. Do you need any other reasons?
I worked with a guy that was assigned to the 173rd. He loved it there. So much so, he married an Italian and stayed there after he got off of active duty.
Stay strong, stay tough, you'll be fine. Its worth it.
Thanks for the words of wisdom, I'll be sure to keep that Italy thing in mind.
It's not so much "Honor and Glory" I'm after, I just love my country and my fellow man enough to want to put the bad guys down and keep the good guys up.
Thankfully, if nothing else, I am a stubborn son of a bitch.
