He flies down, to weather (survive) the hurricane Irma, by staying in the cellar with his employees.

I don't think his island has an aeroplane landing strip so they'd have to travel to the local airport which was probably busy or on lock down

Then how did he get in? If he could get in, why couldn't he just evacute them rather flying down to join them?

Helicopter? Not enough chairs/time?

It worked. His house got messed up, but they were all safe in the end.
