As an aside, stories like this are what make me scowl at people with Whiskey plates. (People who have been convicted of a DWI and are given a state issued license plate starting with W)
That might be the case in some states but I have never heard of such a thing. People who have had that kind of conviction have the number of them listed in the top corner of their division of motor vehicles driver info response for law enforcement, or it could be obtained by looking at their driving or criminal record. It would be silly to designate it by the tag - what if the driver is not the vehicle owner or vice versa? And why make unavailable that entire series for tags?
The only specific reference I found for that is in Minnesota. They require the one who commited the offence to get the plates on their own vehicle and on all of them if they own more than one.
Its a bit infuriating that people are killed because someone decides to drive drunk. I feel like if you are convicted of a DUI you license should be revoked forever or at least something worse that the current punishments, perhaps even prison time, the law should be more strict. They endanger peoples lives and get a slap on the wrist, DUI punishments should be severe so we can hopefully make stories like this a rarity.
^ agreed. Instead of just a warning and a license plate. They should be banned from being able to buy alcohol and no license at the bare MINIMUM and thats only if they did no harm
Yeah a ban on them buying alcohol would be a pretty good idea, I also agree that the punishments for doing no harm should be very severe. People think they're invincible and that nothing is going to happen, but we all know that's not true. I also believe they should be more tactical with DUI checkpoints, in my town they tend to have them on weekends but just at random areas in town. They should have them in strategic areas they know people will be drinking, such as outside sporting events, bars/clubs, and concerts. If you want to drink at these events that's fine, but have a designated driver or call a cab/uber, don't be an asshole and drive drunk.
I'd have gone to jail for that. I would have straight up found him, gone to his house and shot him several times in the stomach and watched him bleed out.
I thought that this story would be happy and they got married and had a crap ton of children together and that they were now old and living on a small, quiet farm and surrounded by family! But no! It had to make me cry! It had to make me think about other human beings feelings when all I wanted to do was laugh and think of happy times! :'(
And there goes Ross's perfect eyeline
Doesn't matter how fucking much we try just to touch our true happiness for a moment
And when you're almost there, so close. You can literally feel it's right there waiting for you
And then life fucks you up
To open yourself to someone that much, to allow yourself to be that open and that vulnerable?
And to have someone feel the same about you? To open themselves like that to you? Sometimes in a way that but feels like they are sacrificing everything and throwing themselves away for it? Like, who the hell am I? I'm just a chum, I'm not worth throwing a life away for.
Here's a not so short summary I skimmed with the rest of the state's thay have, had or proposed similar laws:
