Well, we are one of the best if not the best persistence hunters out there

We are, without a doubt, the best pursuit predator out there.

Cheetahs are short bursts, humans are endurance

That's how to originally killed animals faster than us, by chasing them to the point of exhaustion

Only four miles? That’s a recovery distance for my xc team. It probably wasn’t hard for Kenyan runners at all, I’m sure they’re much more fit than us.

It probably was during midday tho, at temperatures of over 40 degrees celsius. That's quite impressive to me at least

Of course it’s impressive, I was just shocked that the cheetahs didn’t last longer

Four miles is recovery distance? At what speed?

Typically a comfortable slow pace, faster than jogging but slower than 5k pace. Mostly on recovery days we focus on form and stride, the pace comes naturally with the stride you do.

Sounds like good stuff mate. I've mostly given up running for the winter, but I do a 10k now and then

@punchmunchkin well cheetahs are sprinters, they can only run for a kilometer at best before they're overheated and need to cool down for a bit

Cheetahs are sprinters and need long cool down times after short bursts of speed

That’s exactly how homo sapiens and archaic homo sapiens hunted. Even australopithecines hunted like that

Besides amazed by how great those people are at running, I'm so happy that they handed the cheetah to wildlife services instead of killing them like the in old days

It's that how they're training for the marathons they win?
