My grandfather hardly ever talked many thought it was because he was shy or because he use to work in a factory that made him go part deaf in his right ear. Nope he had a hearing aid and with it heard perfect. What it was really was that he preferred to listen to people talk than to say any thing.
He once told me that he use to sit at his moms and dads feet as a small boy and just listen to them talk about all sorts of things.
