I never read the suggested. I just double it and move the decimal. and if they were "Great" I add some more. But I'll now watch what the establishment is doing.

I work at DnB, we don't have suggested gratuity on our checks.

Its different depending on which card machine they use and what options they have set up on the machine.

Man 20% is a lot of tip! In Mexico we give 15% if the service was great.

It's because they pay their wait staff an absolute pittance, and the staff live on their tips.

Remember - don't tip on the taxed amount. Tip on the amount before tax/VAT is added.
