Do they allow surgery that young? I know they work with hormone blockers, which I think are reversible, but even most adult trans people don't have surgery because of cost and complications. I doubt surgery on a kid is common, if it happens at all.
Depends on the study, like with any medication. But, if there's something out there that does temporarily block puberty and can be reversed if a mind is changed, I don't see the issue. Gives the kid time to mentally mature and figure it out, and decide when they aren't 9 anymore. Honestly, I think people would still complain even if there was a perfectly safe, perfectly reversible solution, just because there are too many "I'm Offended"s out there care more about controlling other people's lives than they care about the actual people.
except the top three are decisions that can affect the rest of the world while her decision only effects herself. youre an idiot if you dont understand that. A humans decision isnt based on what anymore of the population decides. Now if that decision is going to influence more than themselves then its regulated. ergo, voting for government, drinking alcohol or smoking which could hinder their development and which would intern affect them voting one day or making rational adult decisions. Choosing a gender would not affect any future influence or anything about themselves today.

.... repost for agreement
I didn’t realise that a child smoking and drinking had an effect on the rest of the world
And no one is saying that a child can’t feel like they belong to be opposite gender. But allowing them to take hormones or get surgery because that’s what they told you they wanted at age 9 is silly.
whoever made this didn't get any research done. You're not allowed to get surgery at such a young age, you have to wait. Meanwhile, they are given hormone blockers & other treatment
Actually there was recently a post going around tumblr about how the bottom was totally wrong. Young kids don’t really understand gender, just what’s associated with it ( long hair, trucks, dresses, superheroes). They probably want one of those, not to totally transition.
Well, my cousin was born female, but all the way up to age 10 insisted he was not a girl. They went to a therapist for a while before putting him on hormone blockers. Once he was 16 he was allowed to take testosterone. He graduated high school a couple years ago, and doesn’t regret a thing.
Yes. I agree that children under 16 should not be given surgery or hormones (ok with blockers).
The one reason I don’t like this post is because it breeds false information, which creates misunderstandings and hate.

Or at least prepubescent
That is not ok.
