And this is why jury duty is worth having. Even if you don't get a high profile case you at least get to see the court/judicial system in action. And if you get a good judge and bailiff they will spend the extra time making sure you understand why everything is done the way it's done and answer your questions. This lets everything go smoothly and, while not making you an expert by any means, does give you some familiarity with the proceedings.
