Actually, no. Crocodiles and alligators are different from dinosaurs. There were crocodilian ancestors with dinosaurs. If anything they might have shared a common ancestor, like us and apes. But yes, dinosaurs are ancestors of birds.

And all birds are technically dinosaurs. It's not an "ancestors" thing, they're just straight-up dinosaurs. Both persons in the post were wrong. If they do kiss and more I hop they'll educate their kids properly on dinosaurs.

Don't forget about the tuatara. It was around at pretty much the same time as the dinosaurs and they can live stupidly long.
