I have meet a few William's who go by bill. Never understood that. I guess not many want to be called Willy lol

I asked my grandpa this a while back and he says, in his time, if your name was Richard, your nickname would rhyme with the shortened version of your name. So, instead of Rick, he'd be Dick.
William (Will) would be Bill
Robert (Rob) would be Bob
