Or a sad and terrible early clue that "Uncle" may be the father and the dad.

Or a sad and terrible reality that not everyone's parents are great. For all my years of schooling I can count on my one hand how many times my dad came to my events, whether they were prizegivings or sports matches or plays or even father-centered events. Just because he was never really that interested. My mom on the other hand was always there to cheer me on from the sidelines.

Plus the uncle could have been the mom's brother.

My mom's mother never did events like that. Instead my grandfather went to "mom and daughter days" with my mom when she was young so she'd still have someone there.

And you gotta find your own 'daddy'
