While I do agree the Dad was a dickhole, He was simply teaching that actions have consequences. In other words, talk shit=get hit only she got hit in the face by the ground.

But surely she should learn that actions have consequences from actions she has independently decided to make, not ones which her father who I imagine she trusts has encouraged her to make?

He told her to get closer. Geese can blind people, bite off fingers especially of small children. You should teach a child about danger and a sensible treatment of animals and not endanger them. 'Be careful give it space and listen to your insinct' not 'run towards it like a lunatic'
