Good advice. A big part of this is actually letting people in. If they're polite they'll signal they want to get over. That's your warning to create more distance so that when they move in front of you, you have enough space. If you don't do that when people signal, you're the asshole. Don't forget that in most simple cases, if you rear end someone you'll be at fault. If you read end someone and they hit the car in front of them, many states make you both half responsible for the third car. You have a responsibility for your own safety. Driving slower, keeping longer following distances, paying attention, letting other drivers go unimpeded- even if they're speeding or you have the legal right. It doesn't matter much if it's your right in the merge and they should yeild- but don't, if you lose your legs or your life. We can be polite and safe to help, some people won't. Always remember a car is 3,000+ lbs of metal carrying more energy than a bullet. It's your life, don't rely on others.

Well sometimes when there’s traffic you have to be “that asshole” cause some people won’t let you over.
