*whispers in dragons ear* What if I told you each of the games has their own flaws and it's up to each person to decide which ones bother them more?

Sims 1: The first game and was merely setting the groundwork for something great. Not necessarily flawed I guess but some view it as outdated.
Sims 2: Anything sims 1 fans could have asked for, but it had lots of annoying issues. Can't move to other towns, stuck viewing them at a strange angle, to feed a sim it took 2 meals etc.
Sims 3: Pretty much sims 2 but with open world and more fleshed out sim personalities. Laggy, hard to play with packs installed, too many packs etc.
Sims 4: A giant graphical improvement. Introduces the concept of emotions and makes sims seem even more life-like but personality-wise they don't improve. Sims are pretty much all alike with a few quirks here and there. A little too easy to play and there really isn't much challenge. Expensive. IT WAS 60 DOLLARS when it first came out and it initially didn't have pools, toddlers, etc.
I posted this for people who don't know anything about these games like @sm19 and I hope it's useful. :)
I think that's where we're opposed here. I view the expansion packs for Sims 3 as a good thing. They add a lot to the game. Sims 4 expansion packs seem to be EA money grabs.

Don't get me wrong I love the sims 3 packs and I agree for the most part about the sims 4 ones. Back then if you didn't have an amazing computer sims 3 packs would cause all kinds of issues and make it almost impossible to play. Now that really isn't the case anymore since computers definitely have improved.
Some of the sims 4 one's are pretty shitty but I have to admit some of them have added some cool new game play. I've bought a few and I do feel somewhat ripped off but I'd rather take some packs then no packs for Sims 4 especially because I love its custom content and I buy them for that reason. Did you hear about the "My first pet stuff" pack that just came out? Now THAT is ripping people off, it honestly left me fuming.
Sorry to whoever we're spamming with all this sims talk but I don't really get to talk about it anywhere else.
Dude my computer is old af but it still ran the four expansions I had. I do find the interactive jobs quite interesting, but it's not enough to get me to actually buy Sims 4

You can ask a lot of simmers how the game has run for them back then and you'll find a lot of them say the same thing. The interactive jobs are interesting but that's just the first pack. Now with the latest patches the base game isn't half bad. If you were to buy it on sale I'm sure you'd probably think it's worth your time and money. Also if you've never really played sims 4 why do you say it sucks when you haven't actually tried it? It might surprise you.
Keep in mind I'm just defending the game, I don't think it's the best one and it isn't my favorite. Sims 2 is my favorite. I've bought all the packs for that one.
I grew up playing the Sims with my stepsister. For the 2000s she had a great computer and we'd play together for hours. First we'd make the most attractive Sims possible. Then we'd make a gorgeous house. A couple kids. But then things would go downhill and we would stop feeding them. Make them piss themselves. We trapped the kids in the kitchen with couches and lit them in fire. As the children perished we led the parents to the pool and drowned them. My mom deleted Sims shortly after this.
