Actually you canstart by picking up online jobs that pay document by document. They don't require a diploma.
Funny story : with a geology license I wanted to start doing english>french translations. I did one, they thanked me and I said if they wanted me to do more I was gonna leave them my resume (just because I fgured everyone doesn't do that). They called me back for a job as translating and mystery client coordinator. But I got in a huge fight with my paranoid mom for whatever reason so I never actually did it.
