The “I want to talk to the manager” haircut. Otherwise known as “I'm white but my kids are black”. The “Why is my son sitting on the bench” haircut. Etc blah blah
Actually happened
I am a cashier, under 19, so I cannot ring up alcohol. A couple comes up, and I start doing my job, of course, ringing their stuff up, until it comes to some bottles of wine. I had actually recommended they go to the cashier in front of me, since I couldn't ring up alcohol, but nope.
Me: I'm sorry mam, I cannot ring up alcohol, I'm not old enough, if you could please give me a moment to call up someone else to do this.
Woman (Lets call her Diane): Really? Are you sure? I know how the law works, about this you know!
Man (How bout we name him Earl): Could I just ring it up?
Me: Sorry no, it has to be someone who works here. Literally anyone else but me, that works here, can ring this up. If you have an issue with it, you'd have to talk to one of my managers.
Diane: Actually yeah I'd like to talk to your manager, call them up for me.
-I call up a manager over the intercom-
(text limit oops will continue in a reply)
Me: Since it's busy, we're gonna have to wait a moment for someone to get over here.
Diane: But we're in a hurry!
Me: I'm sorry, I did tell you before, I couldn't ring up alcohol.
Diane: This isn't right. I'm going to have words with your manager.
(The manager, lets call them Christy, finally gets to my register and immediately sees the alcohol, and rings it up for me. Note: If they have other items, I can ring those up, I just need someone else to ring up alcohol. I can then complete that transaction.)
Diane: Finally, you know, this isn't right. I know how the law works! I can't believe you made us waste all this time, we have somewhere to be you know?
(They pay and leave finally. Then, someone from the line in front of me speaks up to my manager who is still there)
My Savior: He did nothing wrong! Those two were just shooting their mouths off, and he was just doing his job! They were so rude... I would have spoke up sooner but that might have made it worse, with those two.
